IHR adopts out healthy, rehabilitated horses into suitable, approved homes. Adoptions are intended to be for the life of the horse.
Adopters will be required to complete and sign our Adoption Contract and pay an adoption fee that is included in the description of the adoptable equine. Horses may not be resold, re-homed, or bred. All adoption fees collected go back to taking care of the rescued horses at IHR.
THE REQUIREMENTS: Our adoption policy has the following requirements. Please do not fill out an adoption inquiry form unless you meet these qualifications.
Should you no longer be able to care for the horse, it must be returned to Idaho Horse Rescue. All adoption fees are non-refundable.
All available horses at IHR are listed below. This page is updated regularly, so check back often for availability.
Adoption fees start at $1,000.00 Depending on age, health and training level, fees may be higher.

Bradley / 15 yrs / 15.2 hh aprox. / QH Mix / Gelding
Bradley is looking for his forever home. He's still pretty skittish around people, and will require a very patient and experienced handler. We know he's been ridden in the past, however, he was gelded at the age of 12 and seemed to lose a lot of his confidence after that. If you're interested in learning more about Bradley email admin@idahorhors
Juno / ADOPTED 3/28/23
Looking for a sweet, loving horse to give a forever home to? Juno was just officially adopted to a longtime IHR supporter, Lenora Brown. Thank you so much for welcoming Juno into your life. We know she and Henry are going to be lifelong buddies.
Ruby / 14yrs / Lippazzaner/Arab / Mare / Resident since January 2012
Ruby came to IHR after being abandoned in Swan Valley. It was winter, and Ruby and her baby, Buttons, were left cold and without food. Since being in our care, Ruby has recovered and is now a part of our herd. She is a beautiful, sweet lady. We are lucky to be her forever home.
Jack / 15 yrs / TB / Gelding / Resident since 2014
Jack the Giant, aka Gentle Jack, aka Gentleman Jack. Jack is the class clown and is always looking for someone to give him attention and love. He has a permanent injury that will not allow him to be ridden, but Jack makes sure you know he is not going to let it slow him down.
IHR rescued Jack after abandonment in Jerome, Idaho.
Chief and Sherman / Bonded Pair / Seniors / Resident Greeters
Chief and Sherman were surrendered to IHR a long time ago. They are our resident greeters for both humans and horses who arrive on our ranch. Massive they may be, but two gentler, more loving horses you'll never meet. Here at Idaho Horse Rescue we offer lifelong care and sanctuary for our permanent residents.
Honey / 17yrs / Mustang / Mare / Resident since 2015
Honey was rescued after she spent a decade alone in a round pen, she was severely physically abused and carries the scars and mistrust that resulted from it to this day. We felt it best that she have lifelong sanctuary at IHR due to the extreme nature of her abusive past.
Honey lives her best life with the herd, and gets lots of love from trust
